Left Behind On The Moon
April 23, 1972
During the Apollo 16 mission, Lunar Module pilot Charles Duke was collecting samples of soil and rock from the surface of the moon. Although he gathered many pounds of lunar material from different areas of the landing site, he also left something behind. Above his boot-print (visible at bottom), Duke also left a family portrait wrapped in plastic, showing him, his wife and their two sons sitting on a bench.
As Apollo 16 was the penultimate manned mission to the moon, the photo is most likely in the same place, 45 years later. Unless the lunar landings were a hoax, in which case none of this ever happened and sorry for wasting your time.
