Funeral Procession of Ayrton Senna
May 4, 1994
Mourners in Brazil pay their respects as the casket of Formula One driver Ayrton Senna passes by. An estimated 3 million people flanked the streets as Senna made the final journey to his hometown of Sao Paulo.
With 3 world championships, 41 wins and 65 poles, Senna's record speaks for itself, but to many his passion for the sport and unwavering conviction in what he believed made him an even greater presence off the track. At the age of 34, Senna collided with the wall while in the lead of the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the last Formula One driver fatality to date.
