This is a Photograph of Chopin
Though there are several paintings bearing different and often-debated likenesses, this photograph is one of only two known to exist of Romantic-era composer Frédéric François Chopin (1810 - 1849).
The photo was taken in Paris by Louis-Auguste Bisson in 1849, and shows Chopin at the home of his publisher Maurice Schlesinger. Seated at the piano with a musical score at hand, the Polish composer's pained gaze and facial features give testament to the fact he only has a few months left to live, succumbing to what was most likely pulmonary tuberculosis at the age of 39.
