Fat Man Delivery
August, 1945
Three men on the Pacific island of Tinian transport atomic bomb "Fat Man", only days before it would be released from the belly of Bockscar, the B-29 Superfortress piloted by Charles W. Sweeney.
This device, with a length of 128 in. (3.3m) and diameter of 60 in. (1.5m), would be detonated over Nagasaki, Japan, on the morning of August 9, killing an estimated 40,000 people outright.
