Flexon Ad, One Month Before 9/11
This clever spot for cutting-edge flexible metal frames first appeared on the inside cover of an eyewear magazine distributed to optometrists. Unfortunately for Flexon, the prophetic ad was published in August, 2001.
In a matter of days Marchon Eyewear, manufacturer of Flexon frames, found itself quickly pulling print ads and canceling TV spots for the newly launched campaign. "We tried to work as swiftly as we could," stated Marchon's CEO Al Berg. "We can only say that we deeply, deeply regret this very tragic coincidence. And we'd like to thank our customers who expressed their support to us during the process."
