The Mercury streamliners were designed for New York Central Railroad by Henry Dreyfuss and are considered a classic example of the Art Deco movement. Passenger service between midwestern cities began on July 13, 1936 and ended with the Cleveland Mercury making its final run on July 11, 1959.
