Motherly Love: New York Moms Protesting School Integration, 1965

Via: loc.gov

Part of the New York World-Telegram and the Sun Newspaper Photograph Collection, this iconic image showing African American children on their way to a New York public school was captured by Dick DeMarsico on September 13, 1965.
Part of their journey to PS204, located at 82nd Street and 15th Avenue, took them past walls of white mothers protesting the busing of children to achieve integration.
