French photographer Marc Riboud captures this iconic image titled La Jeune Fille a la Fleur, showing seventeen-year-old pacifist Jane Rose Kasmir planting a flower on the bayonet of a National Guardsman at the Pentagon during a protest of the Vietnam War.

The photograph would be published worldwide, resonating with anti-war activists and becoming the symbol of the "Flower Power" movement, Smithsonian Magazine later calling it "a gauzy juxtaposition of armed force and flower child innocence."
