Werfel's First Pair of New Shoes

This moving image entitled 'A New Possession' was featured in the December 30, 1946 issue of LIFE magazine. Werfel, a six-year-old Austrian orphan, ecstatically embraces a brand-new pair of shoes just given to him by the American Red Cross as part of the post-war relief effort.
